Tomorrow is the day.
For the last several weeks, I've been telling people in Volusia County (and beyond) about Paul, his bridges, and the unexpected path that brought all of us here.
Tomorrow, for the first time since he passed, Paul's bridges will be available for purchase.
There are fewer than 50 bridges remaining. Each one was built by hand. Each one is one of a kind. And once they're gone, they're gone.
I want to remind everyone why we're doing this.
While Rainbow Bridge of Hope is growing into something much bigger, the immediate need is very personal.
Pat needs help.
It's been just over two months since Paul passed away. Right now, she has practical needs that can't wait, including the construction of a platform that will make it easier and safer for her to get in and out of her home, and repairs to her lawn.
Every bridge purchased helps meet those needs.
If you'd like to purchase a bridge, you can do so through the website (tomorrow) or by contacting me directly. I do have many names already on a list.
Email me [email protected] or call/text me at 307-267-7886.
Bridge pickup will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
When a bridge is purchased, you’ll get the details of where to go for pickup - for general reference, it’s near Pioneer and Glencoe in New Smyrna Beach. We are asking for the bridges to be picked up during this window. If you are unable, please let us know and we can try to work out alternate arrangements.
We'll also have a videographer there that day as we begin documenting this story and preserving the legacy behind these bridges.
For those who have asked about donating but don't necessarily want a bridge, there will be additional ways to support both Pat and the broader mission of Rainbow Bridge of Hope. More information on that will be coming soon.
What started with one man building bridges in his workshop has become something none of us could have predicted.
The response from this community has been overwhelming. The messages, the stories, the encouragement, and the willingness to show up for someone you've never met has been humbling to witness.
Thank you for being part of it.
Thank you for remembering Paul.
And thank you for helping carry Pat through one of the hardest seasons of her life.
The next phase is already underway which is where all of the business owners who have raised their hand to get involved will come into play.
If you are, or know, a business owner in Volusia County who has a heart for mental health, suicide prevention, pet loss or just generally care about people, please reach out to me! We are beginning to spotlight local businesses and I would love to have your business included!! So many things coming.
